We made mosaics today!

Another busy Saturday... First we went shopping and got everything we needed for our mosaic-making (and I got some cool soap stuff too), and then we went to Mrs. DeVries' house and spent FOREVER trying to figure out designs. Well, I took forever. The others kinda decided and were half done before I decided :).

Amanda was adorable the whole time :). She was supposed to be sleeping, but kept herself awake talking and basically making herself so cute that we couldn't just let her sit there... we had to pick her up :).

Rachel and I ran out of the little tile things, and I let her use the ones she needed to finish her pattern, and changed mine all around. So mine is more random-ish ;). Its still cool though. I like it.

We finally finished up and came home. And we had to make soup for our soup potluck at church tomorrow, and I had to make cupcakes for Mr. Wakeman's 60th b-day party, and I also made muffins for with the soup. Then we watched a really weird Gene Autry movie. It was REALLY weird. And now everyone is in bed (except for me, of course!).

Some people's kids!

Hee hee, I stole this out of an email Anna sent out!! :)

Hey y'all!
I got a little story for you:

Becky's four boys were all sitting on the couch in a row "reading" encyclopedias. Kenton (2yrs) kept bringing his to Becky and asking about the different pictures. One time he brought it to her and asked "Mom what's that??" Becky told him it was a dog and then corrected herself and said it was a Dingo. Kent was surprised by this, "a Dingo?" he asked. Becky said yes it really was a dingo, and immediately Kent went racing back to the other boys and hollered: "Guys look! It's a dingo! You know..." and he began to sing: "Dingo bells, Dingo bells...!"

Aren't kids great??

Let's duet again!

Andrew and I played our piano duet 3 times today! We played it in the morning service at church, and then at a nursing home service this afternoon, and at the Burrells house after that! And now we have to start all over again practicing a new duet.

Andrew moment = blond moment

The other day Andrew was working on writing a paper about the Pentagon, and he got a little off track and was checking out all sorts of stuff in the White House. I was sitting there eating chicken soup and drinking root beer (I've been very ill lately, with a killer cold), so he was sharing all his new knowledge with me as he found it. Fianlly, he thought he'd give me a pop quiz, so he asked, "Do you know what the ONE thing the current Mrs. Bush changed in the outhouse?" (of course meaning the White House) I about died laughing, and managed to gasp out, "The toilet paper?!?!?" It turned out that she changed the rug in the oval office... and I'll never fail that quiz again!!

More soap this weekend

I made some more soap today! Mom and I went to Holland this morning and I got more stuff for it. I found a cheaper brand of the clear M&P soap, but its not quite as clear as the other kind :(. I also got some solid white soap and a mold with little teensy frogs, turtles, and ducks in it, so I made those litle ones in color and made big things of clear soap with those in the middle. It didn't quite turn out like I thought it would ;). The clear is rather cloudy, and I had trouble with my little turtles and frogs melting!!! Oh well, practice makes perfect!!! I stuck some pics up here of it all. I have a problem with my camera though, all you smart camera people out there! When I turn off the flash it doesn't focus or something, and my pics all turn out blurry!!! Is there a way to fix that or is it stuck that way?

Gotta go help with supper now. Adioodles!!!

Here's my soap for the day!! Posted by Picasa

I don't know why my camera makes everything blurry when I turn off the flash. Anybody else know??? Posted by Picasa

Eew, I think the cheaper brand of clear soap isn't quite as clear as I hoped :P Those are turtles in it!! Posted by Picasa

My beauteous soap :) Posted by Picasa

I'm making soap!

I'm trying melt&pour soap this afternoon ;). Right now its cooling for 15 minutes, so I'm kinda bored. Last time I attempted soap, it was from scratch (mostly), and it was a total flop :). I don't know if you can flop on melt and pour though, so this should be fun!! Oops, gotta run. Bye!

We were really busy at work today! Talk about everyone in the county calling in :P. And then we had all kinds of numbering and putting papers in order to do too. And then we got lists of people to call to make appointments, as if we weren't making enough already :).

I'm reading a really good book right now. Its called "Evidence of Things Unseen" by Darlene Deibler Rose. Its her biography. She was a missionary during World War II, I think. Wowzers. If you want to read a really good biography, get that book! I got it through Christian Book Distributor (CBD). http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=70207&netp_id=224464&event=ESRCN&item_code=WW

I've got to go now... suppertime :). Adioodles!!!
