An Exciting Evening
Emergency Rooms can be kind of fun if you have a paramedic brother who knows everyone there. And even if its not fun, they sure get you in and out fast!! I'm experienced in this now because Matthew and I took Mom to the ER on Saturday night. She fell down the basement stairs and landed on the tile floor, breaking her right leg and spraining her left ankle! Today she went to the Dr's office and discovered that since its her fibula that broke, she doesn't need a cast and is allowed to put weight on it. She has been hobbling around on crutches and doing donuts in her wheelchair. Ok, she hasn't done any donuts, but I have :). Its pretty fun, but you have to watch out for the stairs ;). Anyways, even though Mom has 3 mature, beautiful, capable daughters (ok, maybe beautiful doesn't have anything to do with it :P) living at home with her, our church has generously insisted on providing us with meals for all of this week!! And they sent her flowers :). So we're all pretty much getting spoiled, and we're trying to figure out what Mom can break next :).

What I've been up to:
Well, since Lisa wants me to update... lets see what I can remember doing since posting last.
1. We finished painting at Miss Mary Ellen's house (who, by the way, is no longer just plain ol' Miss Mary Ellen, but is now also Mrs. Schroeder... she and her ex-husband are back together again!!!!!!!)
2. We had a surprise b-day party for Mr. and Mrs. Burrell. They both are turning 60 this year, so we planned the party to be in between their birthdays so they wouldn't be suspicious... and boy were they ever surprised!!! They came expecting to be at Ken's b-day party... and not only did they come in to find Ken with a birthday cake with their names on it, but then Alex came walking out! Mrs. Burrell still hasn't gotten over it yet :).
3. We took Alex kayaking while he was up here and had a blast on the Kalamazoo River, splashing each other, losing both cameras (don't worry, they were disposable), squirting everybody with squirt guns, and singing as horribly off-key as we could. Anna tipped over for no reason, causing Mrs. Burrell to suspect poor, innocent Alex (:P) of tipping her on purpose.
4. We went camping just this past weekend with all Mom's brothers. Well... with all the ones that came, anyways ;). We camped in the U.P. near the Big Spring. I discovered that all the uncles secretly are dying to have pink John Deere hats. They tried to cover up by having fits over mine and threatening to dye it green or throw it in the lake, but I'm sure they were just faking it. We also had the traditional Hansen breakfast: Root Beer Pancakes. Let me know if you want the recipe ;).
5. Oops! Never mind number 5!!! Its past my bedtime and then some. I'm all the way caught up on everything I can remember up till last weekend though, so that's pretty good! Goodnight, y'all :).
