Sorry I haven't posted in awhile :P. Now you finally get to hear all the juicy details of our trip to Mexico... as soon as Anna comes back downstairs ;). She's my memory. :P Ok, here we go!

How we got there: The flight down was pretty cool. There was some turbulence over Mexico city that scared certain members of our group, but as you saw, we got some fabulous sunrise pictures over Lake MI. Oh yeah, and we almost got lost in the Chicago airport. And we had a slightly difficult time trying to read the signs in the Mexico airport :).

How we helped: We went door to door and invited people to church and a movie night they had. And we helped out with their kids club. I only got to be there for one of those :(. And after I left, the others got to repaint in the church. They did the sanctuary, the bathroom and the entry room. That's pretty much the whole building, except for this big storage-type room that's not finished yet. Andrew played the piano for their church service and he, Anna, and Rachel sang a special number. And they helped plant flowers for the Navarettes.

What we ate: We got to try "mole" which is a brown sauce-textured mixture with chocolate, coffee, and who knows what else. It DOESN'T taste like chocolate or coffee though!! We also had some cactus. That was ok, except that it squeaks on your teeth :P. And we got to eat at a food stand at a street market, it was called "Juan Ricos" and they had REALLY good food! We had sopas, pambasos, and other stuff :). Mr. Navarette had cow stomach soup. And their apple pop is really good! Walmart sells it here in their Latino section.

What we did for fun: We played different table games just about every night, and stayed up pretty late :). We got to go to their big tourist market, and different street markets. We did some grocery shopping with them :). We also got to tour some huge Catholic churches, and we saw a witchdoctor with a huge line of people waiting to see him :P. That was because there was a big political holiday and there was a lot of people out doing different things. After I left, my family got to go to the pyramids and climb one (I'll post pics of that... it looks really cool!).
